Paulaner Brauhaus at Millennia Walk has been on my list for must-go German restaurants in Singapore. Indeed, after dining there, I will definitely be dropping by their restaurant again in the near future!

Situated in Millennia Walk, they have two storeys (or rather three, but the third floor was not open for seating when I visited their restaurant). The first is a bar, whereas the second floor is a neatly decorated place for diners. The atmosphere was perfect and not to mention, quiet (apart from some people whom have to chat very loudly even though their partner was sitting directly opposite them).

Food wise; I had the Rigatoni pasta “Abruzzi” with fresh herbs sauce, tomato cubes and Parmesan cheese (S$16). Even though the pasta looks pretty normal, it was actually really tasty.

The tomato sauce was well cooked with huge chunks of fresh tomatoes. The taste of herbs did not over-power the tomato sauce and actually blended in really well together. I would say that this plate of pasta has definitely been the top few pastas (or rather, the best) which I have tried in Singapore.

Moving on, I also ordered the popular dish - Crispy pork knuckle with sauerkraut and bread dumpling. Thinking that it will be served in a whole pork knuckle like some other restaurants do, it was actually sliced down to smaller pieces. The skin was roasted to near perfection and surprisingly, the meat itself was tender and juicy (no kidding!), which I have no idea how they actually maintain the tenderness of the meat after roasting the whole knuckle.

Last but not least, I ordered a 0.5litres of MUNICH LAGER since it was Happy Hour (1 for 1 beer between 12pm-8pm on Sunday & Monday). As for the taste of the beer, it's up to you guys to find out if you hadn't try it yet!

So, if you are thinking of finding a good German restaurant in Singapore, I am guessing you know the answer now.

Saveur at Purvis Street (near Bugis) has been extremely popular for their inexpensive and good French food. Ranked with several top reviews, I was there a couple of months back but couldn't manage to get a seat in their restaurant even though it was already around 9pm.

A few days back, I visited their new outlet located at Far East Plaza, Orchard. From what I have observed, this outlet was less crowded than the Bugis one.

For Starters, I had the Saveur Pasta ($4.90), one of Saveur's signature dish. This was basically pasta tossed with chilli oil with minced pork sauce topped with some sakura ebi. The pasta was well cooked and definitely worth the price.

For Mains, I had the Duck ($10.90). It was a duck leg confit on top of mashed potato accompanied with shitake mushrooms and orange segments. Not to mention, it was absolutely amazing. The meat of the duck leg was so tender that it could be easily seperated from the leg bone.

The Foie Gras ($7.90) was a slight disappointment though.

Nonetheless, for the price you pay to enjoy such quality French cuisine, it's definitely somewhere you wouldn't want to miss!

This has been my third visit to Sho Teppan at ION Orchard. What lured me back was the sweet Sukiyaki soup stock that they have used for the steamboat.

Even though they had a variety of food choices ranging from Teppanyaki, Yaki Udon & Yakimeshi, I would pick their Sukiyaki any time.

I had the Chicken Sukiyaki set for $11.90. Each set comes with the raw meat of your choice, a salad, rice/udon and a bowl of raw egg. Based on my understanding, you should beat the egg first and cook the the raw meat fully in the soup stock, then dip the meat into the raw egg mixture. What the egg mixture does was to cool down the cooked meat while keeping it warm inside so that it will not burn your tongue if you chew on it immediately after cooking it in the boiling soup.

I would normally order the Chicken Sukiyaki as it was the cheapest meat item on the menu as I felt that it was rather affordable comparing it to other meat selections (e.g Salmon $15.90).

That said, on my latest dining experience in Sho Teppan, I merely just cooked the chicken slices for a few seconds in the hot soup (like Shabu Shabu style) and some areas might have been uncooked; as a result, I had a few rounds of terrible stomachache. Therefore, I am unable to judge if the meat or the raw egg was actually spoilt/not fresh or it was due to my negligence.

Hence, an advice for all will be to cook your raw meat a little longer to avoid what I have experienced!

Time needed:
5 minutes

What you need:
2 cups plain flour
1/3 cup fine sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup melted butter
1/3 cup milk
Small cup of chocolate chips
1 tsp vanilla extract syrup (optional)
Cling wrap/Baking paper

Steps:
Sieve the flour into a bowl (You may just pour the 2 cups of flour into the bowl if you are too lazy). Then, add in the brown sugar, followed by the fine sugar. After that, pour in the milk, melted butter and vanilla extract syrup. You may want to reduce the amount of milk slightly if you are using full cream milk.

Mix them around until it begins to form into a dough. Toss in a small cup of chocolate chips and combine them well.

Place a cling wrap or baking paper flat on a table surface, transfer your dough onto it and roll it up neatly. Place it in the refrigerator for an hour or so; either that, or you may toss it into your freezer for 20-30minutes and ta-da! Your edible chocolate chip cookie dough is completed!
